Sunrise

The sunrises here near the Marina can often be kind of blah...either it's just a bright sun rising into the sky or it's foggy.  However, some mornings you get an absolutely beautiful moment, such as last Thursday morning when Em and I woke to this.  Specs: D300, 24-70mm f2.8

Coyote in the Park

I never thought I'd come face to face with this fierce creature...ok, maybe not so fierce.  But it was an exciting moment as I took a walk in Sullivan park and spotted this coyote.  I pulled out my lens hoping to grab some pics but realized I only had my 24-70mm.  Hoping he'd remain, I rushed back to my car, grabbed my telephoto lens and proceeded to give chase again.  Ok, I didn't give chase; he was still there.  I crawled on the ground to get myself in a good position.  (Em was quite surprised to see how dirty I was when I picked her up later that evening.)  The coyote didn't seem to be bothered by my presence, though he'd give me a good look every now and then and came to within 25 or so meters.  Actually, I think he knew I had my camera because he took his time to pose; he was probably sizing me up, so I'm not sure who was really checking out who.  Overall, it was a very exciting evening, especially since I had only planned on taking sunset photos in the park.

Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs

A rock formation called kissing camels in the Garden of the Gods.

The Grand Canyon

The colours at the Grand Canyon were gorgeous in spite of the haze from the nearby fires.
